Shine your Light (Nov 18th 2014)
Salt and Light
13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.
14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.-Matthew 5
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”-Matthew 5:16 http://biblehub.com/matthew/5-16.htm
“Arise, shine; for your light has come, And the glory of the LORD has risen upon you.”-Isaiah 60:1 http://bible.knowing-jesus.com/topics/Being-A-Light
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” – John 8:12 http://www.openbible.info/topics/being_a_light
“No one after lighting a lamp covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed, but puts it on a stand, so that those who enter may see the light.
Origins of this Song
The title of this song came to me on the 12th of September (less than a week after this conference called “Storm the Planet”). This is one of many song titles that God laid on my heart to sing and write about (finally did this on November 18th 2014). I felt the urge to write this song finally after a brother in the Lord (Patrick) shared at my local church to shine His light (in our increasingly dark world, especially with all the “bad news” going on around the world and the “dark secrets” I’ve been reading about).
How can “we” be a light for Jesus (God) in this world? How have you? Any stories on how you have?
